It might seem sometimes that I’m always in a good mood — honest, helpful, the housewife with dinner on the table. But we all have our quirks.
One of mine? My head spins. Literally. Over and over again.
Have you seen Inside Out 2? That anxiety character when she’s batty? That’s me.
Now, the attention to detail, the brilliant ideas, the well-made plans — those are all pros. But every once in a while, and always at the worst timing, something happens and the spinning starts. I can’t stop it. I can’t control it. It’s like a rollercoaster I just have to ride until it’s over.
And it’s miserable.
Embarrassing.
Irrational.
Humiliating.
In the moment, nothing helps except the reassurance of those around me. I forget sometimes how much I need people — a mom who still loves me, a husband who stays present and helps as much as humanly possible, a friend to be a soundboard, a sister-in-love who understands.
In those moments, I get to experience the love of Christ through others when I can’t hold myself together. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, I’m deeply thankful for the community around me.
No shame.
No judgment.
Just love and peace.
May we be that for others — a lamp not hidden under a basket but shining bright.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.”
Matthew 5:14–15 (NIV)
How great is our God that He sends people into our lives for such a time as the spins of life.
