Why I Refuse to Watch the Olympics in 2024 | Media and Athletics Disrespect

There are those of us in media who will be sifted this week.

I went to the Olympics in 1996. Grew up 15 minutes away from the training center in Colorado. Even told my daddy that I wanted to be in them one day.

That dream never amounted— but I still enjoyed watching them, until now.

Every day the world keeps turning and turning… and I can’t even stand to watch this year.

It’s purely distasteful and disrespectful to the LORD and those who trained and sacrificed so hard to be competitors.

It’s a mockery of His design. He made each and everyone of those human beings—gave each champion their gift.

When did something that was
magnificent, something that showed how amazing the human body God designed to do remarkable tasks…turn into an outright slap of His creation and purpose for humanity.

I will not be watching this year.
I will not be teaching my children about the modern Olympics.
I will not make them a roll model.
I will not acknowledge their existence beyond this post again.

The LORD gave these people amazing gifts and you not only disrespected their hard work, but the Creator who made them.

You want to put on a show— be my guest, because it will be silent without applause.

I’m sorry to those who worked so hard to not be given the respect you deserve in a filthy, sin filled game.

You worked hard.
You deserve to be cheered.
They took that applause from you and the LORD who made you— and spit on it this week.

If that doesn’t make you mad…
Maybe you shouldn’t read my articles anymore and sift me out.

Psalm 139:14 (New International Version)

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
