Playing Games

People will not like when you choose to live an authentic life.

It’s weird.

Not normal.

Socially challenged.

Awkward.

Uncomfortable.

But why?

When you stop playing worldly games, you subconsciously remind them it’s just that: a game.

All that time, all that money, all that backstabbing, all those worldly tactics and manipulations, and worldly cliches, and corporate hoopla— all those credentials.

Meaningless.

Not that God wouldn’t use them— after all, He works all things for good in those who love Him. But what about the ones who don’t love Jesus? The people who choose to play the worldly games.

Many will stop reading this blog post.

They’ll unfollow, bicker, grit their teeth, and slam whatever unkind word to those who don’t play the game.

But why? Because they know it was a waste of time. It doesn’t count. It’s meaningless.

You can’t be a pawn in a game when you no longer choose to play.

And if you don’t play the game…then others bragging about whatever worldly winning they achieved means nothing. It’s empty.

I’ve recently pondered that it must have been one of the things the Pharisees hated about Jesus. They were masters at playing a worldly game— they were the champions. But Jesus came along and said not only that He wouldn’t play by their rules, but flipped the tables and declared the game was over.

Take a quick minute after you read this—and pray for the LORD to show if you are looking for the right thing in the wrong place. Are you killing your own gift of joy by comparison? Comparison perhaps to someone who is really good at playing the game?

Unqualified does not mean unusable. Jesus uses people that don’t fit into worldly game play all the time. Don’t count yourself out when your are outcasted.

When you decide to believe the whole Bible—and that Jesus is your LORD, you will finally stop playing the game. And at that moment, or soon after, you will come to realize you really won.

Choose Him.

Flip the tables.

Game Over.

Win at His life plan.

Why should you allow strangers to take advantage of you? Why be exploited by those who care nothing for you?
